BROWN OAK FLOORING

ENGLISH BROWN OAK is something a bit special. Brown oak comes from a very few English or European oak trees in which the timber in the trunk of the tree is coloured by a naturally occuring fungus. This does not degrade the wood in any way except to turn the heartwood a rich deep brown colour which goes right through the boards.

Brown Oak and Tiger Oak usually come from the same trees. The Brown Oak is found at the base of the tree. As the full brown peters out, it then become Tiger Oak (see below). Brown Oak grading is mixed grade with up to15% colour variation where boards may run in to Tiger Oak.

Because of its scarcity, brown oak is not always available. Please call to check stock levels.

TIGER OAK FLOORING

ENGLISH TIGER OAK is the same as Brown but is part brown and part standard oak where the brown oak fades away in 'flames' or 'tiger stripes'. Produces an interesting and unusual floor. Specification - as for brown oak.
