We produce this oak in three different formats: CONTINENTAL OAK or  STANDARD EUROPEAN OAK, and CASTLE OAK depending on how it is machined and what size, but all from same source.

EUROPEAN OAK is an elegant characterful timber with more grain change and colour variation than American oak. This type of oak can lend itself to modern and historic interiors.

Available in PRIME and STANDARD grades.

CONTINENTAL OAK:

Thickness: 20mm thick.

Widths: 100/140/180mm.

(normally sold random/even mix of widths. Clients can select one size. If all widest width, price is + 10%).

Lengths: 1500 - 3000mm (up to 20%<1500mm)

Machined: T/G  Ends matched. 2mm Microbevel.

Prefinished & Unfinished.

CONTINENTAL Oak is so called as it has a 2mm micobevel along the top edge where two boards meet creating a small but elegant 'v' joint which is popular in northern European countries. Can be hand finished with oil or with our own tough water-based matt lacqeur.

 STANDARD EUROPEAN OAK:

ORIGINS

Our European Standard and Continental oak flooring is sourced from local sustainably managed forestry in France and England. The logs are sawn, kiln and machined in the UK.

The trees used are selective thinnings which are felled during September and October as part of a sustainably managed forestry programme. The butts(logs) are then sawn, graded and airdried during the winter months, before being dried in high tech kilns.
