OLD OAK
RAILWAY BOARDS.

ORIGINAL AND REMACHINED

Steam Train

Boards are sold as original (see picture right) having been denailed.

These oak boards are salvaged from the deconstruction of redundant French Railway carriages dating from the end of the 19th century.

The boards were used to span the 2.5m gap between the curved metal framework which made up the sides of the old carriages. The boards were bolted at each end to the framework.

The boards are originally about 45mm thick and up to 180mm wide when measured across the face (they are half lap jointed).
